Michelle Valberg
For over 35 years, Michelle Valberg has been telling stories with her camera. This eminent, award-winning Nikon Ambassador and Canadian Geographic Photographer-in-Residence has traveled to all continents in search of adventure and photographic opportunity and is especially renowned for her love of Canada and the Arctic.
In 2022, Michelle was appointed to the Order of Canada and she won the gold medal for wildlife at the World Photographic Cup in Rome. She is a sought-after speaker, celebrated author, community leader and an advocate for animals, the environment and conservation.
Known for her unique ability to create relatable images of incredible landscapes as well as people and other animals, she seeks artistic expression in all of nature’s most intimate moments. She believes that the world around us mirrors what we see in ourselves… the beauty, simplicity, complications and responsibilities. Michelle believes that nature is a part of who we are and we are part of nature, which is why it’s so important for us to nurture and protect the environment and those living in it.

Michelle is a rare combination of dazzling talent and dedicated service. Her focus on philanthropy is another expression of her deep compassion. Michelle co-founded Project North, she has published 4 books and she is a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society and an International Fellow of the Explorer's Club in New York City.
