Low quality
This is made of thin plastic that can break very easily. This is my 3rd that breaks in less than 2 years. Other Nikon lens hoods are over 3-4 years old and still going well. Nikon, if you care about our feedback, please do something about this! We're not happy. as you can see!!!

Breaks easily
Mine broke after only a few months and I glued it which lasted several months...now broken again.

Product needs work
I have a wonderful Nikon 17-35 F2.8 lens.
While I owned only one of these, it seems I have owned 3 HB23 hoods. They are very fragile in the area between the bayonet mount and the wall area. In my view, they tend to break under the stress of normal use.
In my opinion if the sections were increased slightly, the problem would go away.
